Inspiration

This week at Inspiration Avenue Etsy Team Blog there was a Blog party and a challenge theme of "Inspiration". What, Who or Where inspires you was the prompt. Well since this is my teams blog I decided to let them all know that they are an inspiration to me. Each of them are lovely ladies and wonderful artists. Each has their own style. Some are painters, some are mixed media artists, some are photographers, others graphic designers. We are quite the mix and I love it. The last 4 images are of what else inspires me and that is nature, color, vintage ephemera, trims and papers. I love you IAE ladies!! XOXO

Each week we host an art challenge and each week the works of our followers and members alike are displayed so that everyone can view each artists interpretation of the challenge theme. It is such fun. I hope that you will pop over some time and participate. We always link back to your blog post so that our followers can discover more about you. Hope to see you there. Oh and there is a giveaway drawing for those whom participate in the challenges.

Inspiration Avenue's challenge

Inspiration Avenue had a challenge this past week asking what our favorite month was and to put it into art or photos or a poem, jewelry whatever have you. Mine is October so I chose 2 of my photos that I think best represents that. I chose October because harvest season starts, the air starts to get a little chilly, the leaves on the trees change into the most awesome show of colors, Halloween, pumpkins, we can throw open the windows and let the fresh air in, apple picking, the colors. These are some of my favorite things about October, well fall for that matter. After a long hot summer I welcome the cooler temperatures and snuggling in a throw and the soft scent of a burning candle and the flicker and crackle of a fire pit . What's your favorite month and why?

Winter Wonderland ATC for Inspiration Avenue's Weekly Challenge

For the Weekly Art Challenge on Inspiration Avenue, the word was "Wonderland". So with it being so cold and snowy here, this January what other than Winter Wonderland popped into my mind. So I created this ATC (Artist Trading Card) for the New Year. It says Happy New Year 2010 under the snowflaked vellum. The under layer is a silver paper and the back of this ATC is a white handmade paper that has been printed with silver vines and flowers. So pretty. If you would like to see all of the other submissions and possibly join us in the future for some artistic fun, than stop over to the Inspiration Avenue blog. Each month there is a giveaway to one lucky participant of the weekly challenges in that month. Some really great stuff is given away.

Imagination Mixed-media Piece

This week's challenge at Inspiration Avenue was "Imagination". This is my take on it. All sorts of wonderful thoughts and visions escaping into realism. This will be for sale in my etsy shop later this afternoon. Next week's challenge is "Hidden". Sounds like fun, huh?! Come play with us. It's fun! Enjoy your day!

Peaches and Cream Challenge

Peaches and Cream Photo submission for Inspiration Avenue's Weekly Challenge. I found this lovely Camellia outside of my BIL's home on Thanksgiving. Made me miss my own when I lived in NC. They are blooming when most other plants are dormant. Isn't it gorgeous?!  We are going to the tree farm to cut down our Christmas tree today and decorate. Should be fun as there is snow on the ground and hot cider to be sipped and the challenge of finding our perfect tree. Hugs to all! Enjoy your Sunday!

"Romance" Art Journal for Weekly Art Challenge

Romance was our challenge this week on Inspiration Avenue's Weekly Art Challenge.
I made an art journal. The cover is decorated with inspirational embellishments. What place is supposed to be the most romantic place on earth? Paris! Yes, the city of lights. One day I may get there.

I used some vintage lace and beautiful antiqued papers on the cover. I love all of these pretty fancy yarns.

Inside more vintage laces and a pretty Eiffel tower pendant.

Dream has been added because what is art made of but dreams. This Art Journal will be listed in my etsy shop today.
