Inspiration Avenue had a challenge this past week asking what our favorite month was and to put it into art or photos or a poem, jewelry whatever have you. Mine is October so I chose 2 of my photos that I think best represents that. I chose October because harvest season starts, the air starts to get a little chilly, the leaves on the trees change into the most awesome show of colors, Halloween, pumpkins, we can throw open the windows and let the fresh air in, apple picking, the colors. These are some of my favorite things about October, well fall for that matter. After a long hot summer I welcome the cooler temperatures and snuggling in a throw and the soft scent of a burning candle and the flicker and crackle of a fire pit . What's your favorite month and why?
The prompt was do you dream in color. I do, so I chose some of my photographs to represent some of the vivid colors I dream in. I am always drawn to vivid colors for my photos, but I also love to create art in muted romantic speia tones, as well. Like some of these items, I've sold.

Here is my art piece I entered in this weeks Art Challenge at Inspiration Avenue. The challenge was to use a word out of the list given and make a "worn" looking piece of art/photo/etc. I ripped papers, antiqued the edges, used tea stained watercolor paper, a skeleton key, vintage laces, old world script, and the word "inspire". I had fun creating it. I had not been able to play for awhile with the move and work, so this was a real treat.

This week at Inspiration Avenue I am hosting this weeks art challenge. The challenge is to use one of the words above in a piece of art; jewelry, painting, mixed-media, photograph, etc., etc. The twist is for it to have a "worn" look, ie; tattered, rusty, crackled, antiqued, frayed, etc. So if you want to join in on the fun, you have until Sunday at noon to add your post to your blog and then comment on the post here with your link, and on Sunday your lovely piece will be shared on the Inspiration Avenue Blog for all to see with a link back to your blog. Dreams, Love and Wishes are what life is made of. Adventures and nature are what this art piece is composed of. There are feathers, vintage laces, an antique key, seashells, inspiring words and all sorts of wonderful tidbits. This piece will be up for auction on Inspiration Avenue, starting this Sunday, the 7th at 7am. This Art Auction is being held to benefit Angel Faces, a wonderful retreat for young ladies ages 11-19 yrs. These brave young ladies have facial disfigurements. This retreat allows them a week to be surrounded by others just like themselves. Through Art therapy, group and one-on-one therapy programs these young ladies learn how to cope with looking different, as well as learning techniques to deal with inquisitive and rude people. This week is a really emotional one for them and gives them the resources to lead normal, productive lives with a much better self esteem. It is a wonderful program. 
This is the other art piece I have donated to the Art Auction. 100% of the proceeds will go to Angel Faces.

There is a Charity Auction Event being hosted by the Inspiration Avenue Etsy Team. The Art Auction will take place March 7th-14th. There will be art from all over the globe. There will be jewelry, photographs, mixed-media, paintings, etc, to bid on. The event is to benefit Angel Faces, a wonderful retreat for adolescent girls (11-19 yrs) with facial disfigurements. These young ladies get to meet up for a week and go through art therapy, group therapy, one-on-one therapy and learn how to respond to the general public when someone makes a comment about how they look a little different. They also learn how to apply makeup so that their scars are not so evident. These young ladies walk away with a bit more confidence, a whole lot of healing and the proper tools to get them where they want to be. It is a fabulous program! These girls get to be themselves without any worry that someone will judge them, for one whole week. It is a major self esteem booster and a place that will touch them emotionally for the rest of their lives.
"Love One Another" is my submission for Inspiration Avenue's Weekly Art Challenge. This week's prompt was Heart. This mixed-media piece will be in my shop today.
This week's challenge at Inspiration Avenue was "Imagination". This is my take on it. All sorts of wonderful thoughts and visions escaping into realism.
