Art Auction and Giveaway

There is a Charity Auction Event being hosted by the Inspiration Avenue Etsy Team. The Art Auction will take place March 7th-14th. There will be art from all over the globe. There will be jewelry, photographs, mixed-media, paintings, etc, to bid on. The event is to benefit Angel Faces, a wonderful retreat for adolescent girls (11-19 yrs) with facial disfigurements. These young ladies get to meet up for a week and go through art therapy, group therapy, one-on-one therapy and learn how to respond to the general public when someone makes a comment about how they look a little different. They also learn how to apply makeup so that their scars are not so evident. These young ladies walk away with a bit more confidence, a whole lot of healing and the proper tools to get them where they want to be. It is a fabulous program! These girls get to be themselves without any worry that someone will judge them, for one whole week. It is a major self esteem booster and a place that will touch them emotionally for the rest of their lives.
So if you would like to have a part in this event, then please come join in the fun the week of March 7th-14th. If you would be so kind to blog about this using the above flier along with a link HERE, I/we would be ever so grateful.
I will have a giveaway for all of you who blog about this Art Auction. Just leave me a comment on this post telling me you have done so. The giveaway winner will be chosen by the random generator and announced on March 15th, here on my blog.
I am so excited about this!! Eeek!

Right after my shower. If you want to participate in March or April's Paper swaps, go to Woven Letters and sign up. You are matched with someone from another country and it is always such a treat to receive your package of goodies. I have fun  putting them together, also. Thank You Jacky! I love all of it! It's a very inspiring package.

Vintage looking greeting card

This is a card I created using one of Magpie Mine's Collage Sheets from her etsy shop.
Here is the tutorial.
Items needed:
1 card and envelope
vintage ink stamp pad
1 pretty piece of cardstock
1 image from Magpie Mines Shop
fancy edged scissors
glue
letter stamps
4 paper flowers
something to embellish the center of the flower
Step 1 Cut and glue the cardstock to fit the center of the card
Step 2 Cut and glue the image from Magpie Mines shop with fancy edged scissors, onto the cardstock
Step 3 Glue the 2 paper flowers to the corner after antiquing them with the stamp pad
Step 4 Glue on a bauble to the center of the flowers or make a swirl with a metallic gel pen
Step 5 Antique all  the edges of the card and envelope
Step 6 Glue on small rectangle of the cardstock after cutting it with the fancy edged scissors
Step 7 Glue on the last two flowers after antiquing them
Step 8 Stamp a saying or a greeting to the side of the image
Ta-da! It's that simple. Looks sweet, huh? No I'll have to send it out to a special friend.

Have fun using her in your artwork for sale or not. All I ask is that you do not sell the image itself. Thank you. Enjoy!

bubear? lol Trip to Charleston, SC

bubear...how funny. That was my word verification . lol

Some photos from our Charleston, South Carolina trip last summer. I am yearning to go back and needed a little sunshine in my life today, so off I go on a mini vacation. Come along with me. We can have a tall lemonade or sweet tea out on the veranda.

Since it is sunny and 100'F we will need to cool off in the shade or at the beach. Which would you rather?

There's a porch swing and ceiling fans.

There is a nice breeze at the beach but it is still toasty. The water looks calm.

The seagulls have black heads. hmmm...never saw that before. Wish I could soar in the sky sometimes.

I'm just going to lie under the umbrella and read my book while I enjoy the sounds of the waves. You go ahead and splash around in the water. I'll join you in a bit.

Before and After Kitchen

Our kitchen Before and After the new tile floor and new dishwasher. Our floor was finished Friday and I had to dust everything in the entire upstairs. Ugh. There was a layer of dust all over everything. You can see that on the table. I promise it is not like that usually. I cannot however claim that for the top of the frig. When I need to get something above the frig., my husband usually has written a message to me in the dust. I tell him if he can see it and write in it then he needs to dust it. lol I'm in love with my new floor. Our old dishwasher leaked and went under the old tiles so we had to replace the dishwasher and floor. Oh darn!! ;D
