Sunshine and happiness...

"Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine."  ~D Angelo

"Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves" ~James M. Barrie

You all bring sunshine to me every day through your sweet comments. You make me smile and touch my heart. Thank you all for being you.

Spring and Summer thoughts

Look at what I found reaching for the sky this afternoon. There were about 6 of them on the side of our house. What a thrill. Just look at that little bit of sunshine. There's even a bee inside, if you look closely.  And...we had a mosquito fly in the opened door today. Yep, a mosquito already. I know I am rushing things but speaking about bees and mosquitoes has me thinking about fireflies. It is such a treat to watch them dance in the night. Aaah summertime is just around the corner. Watermelon, freshly picked corn on the cob, walking on the cool grass, swinging, listening to the evening symphony brought to us by all of the insects. Frogs, the jingle the ice cream man's truck plays, the smell of sunscreen, fresh juicy fruits, lemonade, iced tea, barbecues, flying kites, beach trip, daydreaming...

Signs of spring are all around

The first sign of spring for me is when the lovely crocus wake up and reach for the sky. They bring a smile every time I see them. Winter has had us in its grip for too long. The last few days have been gorgeous! Sunny and in the high 50's and low 60's. Have my sunroof open and sunglasses on  and loving the fresh air and sunshine. I will air out the house on Saturday. It is supposed to be mid 60's. I love to open all of the windows, and clean when the weather is this nice. Get rid of the stuffy winter air, you know?. It's like breathing new life into our home.  Every year a coworker of mine brings me in Forsythia to force inside in February. They are such a sunny yellow and really brighten up any space. You just cut and stick in water and voila you will start to see the buds open into lime green and then bright yellow.  The last image is of those lovely, highly fragranced lilacs along my driveway. They smell so good and make such pretty centerpieces. What's growing in your yard? Chubby robins are everywhere. Bird song greets you all around. It is a lovely symphony. Hope you are enjoying the nature.

" A stitch in time saves nine" sweet sewing box

Sew here's the sweet sewing box I mentioned in my last post. It is made up of three progressive sized boxes, which I painted in a metallic copper. Each lid comes off, all of them are attached to one another. I layered on vintage laces, buttons and corsage pins, along with some paper flowers with pearl centers and the quote, "A stitch in time saves nine". There is plenty of room for all of your sewing bits.  Isn't it is super sweet?.

A painting from the beginning

Okay, so these photos really don't do it justice. The colors are more rich in person.  This was my gift to my mom for her birthday.  It measures 18"x24", not including the frame, so it is a rather large piece.  Anyway, it got me to thinking that I may want to do more. We'll have to see. I have a sewing box I created that I will show you in my next post. It has vintage laces and buttons on it. It's super sweet. I'm off to blog hop. See you soon.

Free Vintage Image and missing you

Sorry I have been MIA for a week but I wanted to give the exposure to the Art Auction going on at Inspiration Avenue. I have missed out on blog hopping too as I had been busy creating a painting for my mother's birthday. I will show that to you soon. I still  need to download the photos from my camera. I hope you had some gorgeous sunny days this past week. We did and the birds were loving it too. They were all over the place singing their tunes. The weather was in the hi 50's and low 60's with sunshine for 5 days! Whoot! After having so much snow since December, we were all getting cabin fever. Well, I hope you enjoy your day, today. I am off to blog hop and catch up with you all.

Life is made of Dreams, Love and WIshes

Dreams, Love and Wishes are what life is made of. Adventures and nature are what this art piece is composed of. There are feathers, vintage laces, an antique key, seashells, inspiring words and all sorts of wonderful tidbits. This piece will be up for auction on Inspiration Avenue, starting this Sunday, the 7th at 7am. This Art Auction is being held to benefit Angel Faces, a wonderful retreat for young ladies ages 11-19 yrs. These brave young ladies have facial disfigurements. This retreat allows them a week to be surrounded by others just like themselves. Through Art therapy, group and one-on-one therapy programs these young ladies learn how to cope with looking different, as well as learning techniques to deal with inquisitive and rude people. This week is a really emotional one for them and gives them the resources to lead normal, productive lives with a much better self esteem. It is a wonderful program.

This is the other art piece I have donated to the Art Auction. 100% of the proceeds will go to Angel Faces.
So please come join us in the fun. There will be art from around the globe! Thank you in advance. If you can please bring some friends. The more the merrier and it is for such a wonderful cause.
