This is Month 3 of the Magical Art Journal Journey, where myself and 8 other artists pass on an art journal that has a color theme to it. In the end we will all have nine or more layouts full of artwork by the others. A real treasure. So this month I had the privilege of working in Angie's Art Journal. Angie chose WHITE for her color theme. |
This page has a background paper of white chippy painted barn wood and layered on top of that are a row of flowers I made by burning the edges of organza. Here is a tutorial for making them.I them photocopied an original post card I have of Emily Post's home and garden. I love the little note a young lady wrote to her friend. |
The postcard dated 1944 reads," You should see the lovely garden here, and the house inside
is my idea of a very comfortable as well as interesting home. Emily Post
herself, I think, I think very sweet. She shook hands with all of us.
Still of the (not sure what this word is), As Ever, Jerrie". Emily Post was an American writer and socialite who became famous for writing on social etiquette.
She's all packaged up and ready to fly off to Arkansas tomorrow to visit with Kim Imgirl. |
Happy Creating!
XO,
Tammy

Wow, Tammy , all in all, I would say that you have sprinkled White loveliness all over these two pages! Love the pocket , the heart and all the vintage things going on there! I am excited that it is coming my way next!

I am without words...holy cow,
ReplyDeleteTammy, these pages are truly
works of art.
Tattered? You? LOL! I wish I was half
as pristine as you!
♥♥
Thank you Priti. You are too kind. Pristine? Ha I think not lady. =)I have character lines. haha
Deletexo Hope you are enjoying the high 70's. Alex says it was sunny today. Woohoo!
Tammy, your pages are exquisite!! I think these soft shades of white are right up your alley. You are so good at mixing lovely bits of ephemera to create a sweet trip back in time...so much to look at and dream about! I know Angie will love these pages.
ReplyDeleteWhen you said the white theme may intimidate some, I thought, YES that's me! But I'm going to look at it as a challenge to step out of my comfort zone. That's one of the things I love about the color theme aspect of our swap ~ the challenge makes it even more fun!
BTW, I'm loving your blog background and header...more of those luscious shades of white :)
Maggie, I know what ever you make will be magical because everything you make is. I'm a huge fan!
DeleteOur lovely Sharon made the background and I asked her to make me a personalized matching banner. I love it. All of the vintage papers and roses and a swinging fairy. Who wouldn't love it!? Sharon is so talented when it comes to this stuff.
Hope you are enjoying the good weather.

So beautiful, I can see why you like working in white- a match made in heaven! It reminds me of an impressionist painting, airy and lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd after it goes to Kim, I get to see it!!!
xx

I can not get enough of your wonderfully creative blog :)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Connie :)
Aw thank you so much Connie. You are very kind.
DeleteEnjoy your weekend!
Ah such beautiful pages Tammy. They do make me feel really peaceful like I'm sitting in an all-American garden complete with a picket fence and Katy is on her swing (I loved the What Katy did books when I was a child!).
ReplyDeleteYou have given these pages a beautiful gentle touch mixed with a little history and maybe a ghost or two...
Thank you Lisa, I want to be on a swing next to you so we can discuss the What Katy did books, as I am unfamiliar with them. I am sure they were fun to read as you have quite the imagination and I am sure they had part in that.
DeletePicket fences surrounding pretty gardens always make me swoon. Hugs!!
Oh wow Tammy your pages are stunners!! You've included so many things I love - the text, feathers, hearts, butterfly ... those flowers are a beautiful textural touch, so clever ...I adore the hand-written postcard and the muslin heart tucked away in it's little pocket, it has a real vintage-y feeling and sense of story to it. Thank you so much! xx
ReplyDeleteI think you're the only person so far who's not been apprehensive about working in white! It never occurred to me that it would be seen as a challenging colour - sorry ladies, I promise to pick something brighter next time ha ha!
Tammy - I must have missed commenting on these pages when I was ill and by chance just looked again now. These are sumptuous layers of gentle rich beauty. I love the mix of paper, vintage ephemera, feathers and gorgeous handmade flowers. And the story that's told gives a life and personality to these pages that beg to be treasured through generations.
ReplyDeleteSorry that I didn't get the chance to comment back in May but I sure have enjoyed revisiting these gorgeous pages today.
Hugs
Kat Xx
