Nesting

Here are the Purple Finches I told you about. You can see the mom, dad and the 2 or 3 babies in the nest. Look at the profile of the baby on the far left of the nest. It's mouth wide open. The Robins' nest on our settee just to the left of our front door. Maybe 4 feet away, on our porch.

Sunday she laid another. Never knew they were a day apart.

Monday there were 3. Aren't they such a vibrant blue? Now she is on them constantly, only leaving for short periods of time. We are using the side door so as not to disturb her.

I snapped all of these egg shots when she was not in sight. Funny how she chose the settee to make her nest. Does the female make the nest? No penthouse for her, just down home comfort in a secure, protected location. Hope the cats that visit the porch from time to time stay away.

Baltimore Inner Harbor

This is a sampling of the homes around Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Pretty cool, huh?

You will find entertainment, shopping, food, museums, etc, here. So much to do.

These were dragon paddle boats floating in front of the museum. Looks like fun.

The Baltimore Aquarium is great for the whole family and cool on those warm summer days.

I just loved this giant mosaic bird. It was gorgeous! Painted beautiful blues, greens and purples and then there were mirror and tile pieces used to make the mosaic.

Look at this GIANT nest! It is actually a balcony. We drove up and there stood 3 people engulfed in this enormous nest. How fun, huh?

This was outside of one of the most whacky art museums (The American Visionary Art Museum)I've ever been to. It had a fun/bizarre gift shop, too.

Joy to my heart

A painting that I did and then added ribbons for the tail feathers of the birds and dried spiral stems for the vines and silk flowers, a nest and eggs. The lady that ordered this from me, ordered it for her mother whom has alzheimers and loves birds. She said it put a smile on her face. What more could you ask for? What a nice feeling to know that your art brings joy to someone's heart.

Baltimore Inner Harbor Memorial Day Weekend

We went to Baltimore this weekend, to spend time with mom and her husband. We had a good time. The weather was gorgeous! So sunny and in the low 80's with a breeze. Just perfect weather for walking around the inner harbor.

We visited this odd art museum. I say odd because the art left a lot to be desired. I love art, don't get me wrong, but it was some scary stuff. From the outside the artwork was fabulous, so we went in and paid the $15. each, but it was not worth it. All 5 of us were disappointed. Oh well, you never know until you try something.

We stopped at an Irish tavern for appetizers and drinks. And then off to do a little shopping. I just loved this bird and birds nest balcony. So creative. Baltimore is full of nice neighborhoods and well groomed streets. Lots of activity and things to do. The aquarium and shopping are great. Look at the neat dragon boats in the harbor. So colorful and lots of them.

Spring Journal Swap

Well, today when I arrived home from work there on my porch sat a package all the way from sunny California. Yay! I love packages! Upon further inspection, I discovered that it was from my blog "Journal swap" partner, Michelle. If you have a minute check out her cute blog and shop at: http://ginghamworld.blogspot.com/ .

We were to use a composition notebook and dress it up however we wanted. Fun, fun!

Michelle chose to use a floral vintage fabric, a pink polka dotted ribbon and rickrack. She embellished it with one of her sweet handmade flowers. On the inside is polka dot and pink paper. Isn't it so pretty?!

I plan to use it for sketching out ideas, inspirations, etc. It will bring a smile to my face every time I see it. Oh and she tossed in a little extra surprise. Isn't she so sweet? It is a birds nest necklace. Thanks, Michelle!! I love the journal and the necklace!
