My favorite art supply...Paper
Oh how I love paper. The last sale Michaels had, I bought around 100 sheets. I love the potential it has. It can be decoupaged onto just about anything, it can be a place to showcase photos against, it can brighten someone's day by being made into a card, it can become a journal, a flower, a mat, a book cover, jewelry, a part of a collage, a piece of art, etc., etc. The possibities are limitless. It comes in so many textures, an amazing array of colors and patterns. What's your favorite art supply?

Remembering...
Memorial Day is a day for recognizing those who have served and are serving our country. So to all the men and women who have done so or are doing so I am thankful for your service. It is quite the struggle for families to be apart, especially during war time. I feel for the young soldiers who are exposed to so much at such a tender age. No age makes it any easier but my heart goes out to those who have yet to see the world and are exposed to such horiffic sights and experiences. May God bless them and all of their families.
On a happier note, Chloe, over at Life's Big Canvas was so sweet to convo me that she featured my paper patchwork quilt on her blog along with some other etsy sellers. So sweet, huh? She has a painting blog and some fun stuff in her shop. Have a minute, take a peek.

Victorian Inspired Wedding Guestbook
Another custom order for a Victorian inspired Wedding Guest book. This bride-to-be's colors are tiffany blue, red and black. She wanted birds and chandeliers and rhinestones.I am happy with the way it turned out. DH says it's one of his favorites so far and believe you me that is saying alot for a man that is of few words. lol I love this feathered ribbon I bought awhile bak. I have used it sparingly as it was being discontinued.

cats, lily of the valley and tags
I'm so sad. The Robin that made her nest on our front porch settee was scared off by those darn pesky neighborhood cats. We have a dog for goodness sakes. They hop onto the front porch over the flower boxes and onto the chairs they go. I have tried tin foiling the seats but that didn't seem to bother them a bit. Darnit! I wnated her to be able to raise her babies safely.

Medieval Inspired Wedding Guestbook
This guestbook was created for a lovely lady out in California. She is an author and her genre is fantasy and faeries. She requested an aged book with plenty of space for 150-200 guests to sign. I hope she likes it. I used warm colors because her wedding is in October. Her invitation and colors are chocolate, peridot green and creams. I enjoy making these for brides-to-be.

Images of a Daffodil
This Daffodil had me mesmerized. I fell in love with the ruffled edges and the sharp contrast of colors. It was the only one to pop up in my garden. I shot it from different angles and against different backdrops. Which ones are your favorites? I might have some printed for my shop but not sure which ones people might like. The second to last one reminds of a ballet dancer.

I found a couple of great blog giveaways I thought I'd share with you.
I found this wonderful artist tonight. She is having a giveaway on her blog. Her work is ethereal and beautiful. You can take a peek here. She has an etsy shop, also. I don't know about you but I like to use pretty, elegant office supplies. My favorites are pens, papers, and post-its. I love them as much as I love vintage linens. They make my day a little happier. I must leave myself reminder notes. I'm 41, so what do you expect? Okay, okay at least I don't leave the toilet paper roll on my car seat to remind me to get TP. Mom! I go through pens once every two weeks, because my job requires me to write so much. I love a fresh piece of paper because among other things I'm a big time doodler. ;D So, if you would like a chance to win $150. worth of wonderful Carolina Pad office supplies than you need to go here for the details.

Nesting
Here are the Purple Finches I told you about. You can see the mom, dad and the 2 or 3 babies in the nest. Look at the profile of the baby on the far left of the nest. It's mouth wide open. The Robins' nest on our settee just to the left of our front door. Maybe 4 feet away, on our porch.
A glimpse through the dining roomwindow at the momma laying her first egg, Saturday.
Sunday she laid another. Never knew they were a day apart.
Monday there were 3. Aren't they such a vibrant blue? Now she is on them constantly, only leaving for short periods of time. We are using the side door so as not to disturb her.
I snapped all of these egg shots when she was not in sight. Funny how she chose the settee to make her nest. Does the female make the nest? No penthouse for her, just down home comfort in a secure, protected location. Hope the cats that visit the porch from time to time stay away.
Any fun things happening in your yard this spring?
